Half
poetry, half realism, Takeo Adachis work is
characterized by an omnipresent motif, stone, which
he perceives as a mysterious, concentrated force.
Focusing particularly on pebbles arranged in a line
or a circle, Adachi draws them in minute detail
with a pencil, from a very low angle. In his latest
series, rope a Japanese symbol of life and
purity takes its place alongside the mineral
element. Takeo Adachis fine, sober productions,
based in Zen, create an environment conducive to
meditation.
